Casting has been completed.
Walt Disney Pictures is in pre-production for the live-action feature film John Carter of Mars, which is an adaptation of the Edgar Rice Burroughs 11-volume Barsoom book series. “John Carter of Mars” is part one of a film trilogy, and will be based on just the first novel. Andrew Stanton will direct ( Finding Nemo, WALL·E) and this will be his first live-action film directorial debut. Actually, the film will combine computer-based animation and live actors to become a CGI/live-action hybrid movie.
Filming begins in January, 2010, and will take place in Utah, Texas (Austin), and the UK. The release date is scheduled for 2012.
