“Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” filming gets underway in October, 2014.
Fifth Mate Productions and Jerry Bruckheimer Films have now set a new start date to begin filming on the Walt Disney Pictures fantasy adventure comedy feature film “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales”. The Casting Society of America Artios Award winning casting director is set to begin holding auditions in Los Angeles for lead and supporting roles. Shooting will take place in Los Angeles, United Kingdom, Louisiana, and Hawaii beginning October, 2014 and will continue through approximately April, 2015. “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” will hit theaters in 2016.
“Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” will once again see Captain Jack Sparrow racing another pirate to a treasure, this time battling Captain Brand in search of The Trident. Brand is a ghost seeking The Trident to get his revenge on Jack, whom Brand believes is responsible for his death. Captain Jack Sparrow also has a new love interest; Barbosa’s daughter Carina Smyth.
Starring in “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” is three-time Academy Award nominee Johnny Depp reprising his role as the legendary pirate of the Seven Seas, Captain Jack Sparrow. Depp has been extremely busy since filming “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides”. He recently finished directing a Keith Richards documentary film, and starred in the Warner Bros. Pictures feature film “Transcendence”. Depp has been shooting the Disney film “Into The Woods” in England since September 16th and recently wrapped in late November. Depp in now shooting the crime-thriller “London Fields”, and then will star in the Lionsgate feature film “Mortdecai” before prepping for “Pirates of the Caribbean 5”. Reports have Keith Richards reprising his role as Jack Sparrow’s father Captain Edward Teague, and two-time Academy Award winner Christopher Waltz in negotiations to play villain Captain Brand.
Norwegian filmmakers Joachim Rønning and Espen Sandberg will direct “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” from an original screenplay written by BAFTA Film Award nominee Jeff Nathanson based on characters by Academy Award nominee Terry Rossio. Rønning and Sandberg, who go by the directing team name of Roenberg, co-own one of Scandinavia’s largest production companies for commercials called Motion Blur. The duo directed the Academy Award nominated feature film “Kon-Tiki”, and are producing the currently filming “Beatles”. “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” scribe Jeff Nathanson has written screenplays for a number of very successful feature films including “Rush Hour 2” and “Rush Hour 3,” “Catch Me If You Can,” “The Terminal,” and “Tower Heist”.
Nine-time Primetime Emmy Award winner Jerry Bruckheimer is producing “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” along with Jerry Bruckheimer Films executives Mike Stenson and Chad Oman. Movies produced by Jerry Bruckheimer Films have earned 41 Academy Award nominations with six wins. Some notable financial successes have been “Con Air,” “Coyote Ugly,” Pearl Harbor,” “Remember the Titans,” and “National Treasure: Book of Secrets”. Jerry Bruckheimer Films also produced the first four Pirates films, which have raked in over $3.72 billion worldwide. Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures will handle domestic distribution.
